James Gurney is a superhuman genius artist, and he wants to show you how you can become superhuman too….for free!!!

First off James Gurney blogs….everyday!!!!  If this is not a sign of superhuman behavior I don’t know what is, haha!  The creator of the hugely popular Dinotopia book series has created a blog that is a MUST read for any artist of any age of any level.

It is literally the first place I would start to learn about art.  I’ve been to upper level art classes, I’ve graduated from art college, and I can tell you that you can get a pretty damn close education by carefully reading and following Gurneys phenomenal blog (not to mention his two art instruction books and DVD that is coming out soon).

The man is a walking art college.  On his blog he describes the blog as:

” This daily weblog by Dinotopia creator James Gurney is for illustrators, plein-air painters, sketchers, comic artists, animators, art students, and writers. You’ll find practical studio tips, insights into the making of the Dinotopia books, and first-hand reports from art schools and museums.”

Most great artists stay locked up in there studio keeping what they have learned to themselves, not James!  He has carefully written down what he has learned, organized it and offers it to you for FREE!!!! on his blog.  Go there….now….the blog of 2012 and the next few decades I’m sure….somethings are too good to be true and should be avoided, and somethings are just that damn good and should be valued and cherished, Gurney Journey is one of those things, and should be cherished!

  1. I agree. The most informative and selfless blog anywhere on art. It’s amazing all the great information James Gurney puts on his blog every single day. Fabulous.
